The Pembroke 6 foot high by 8 foot wide White Vinyl Privacy Fence Panel was the perfect solution for providing privacy from the street for our backyard. As you can see in the picture, we have recently relocated and have a plethora of projects in progress. The actual assembly of the fencing was pleasantly easy. The installation, while simple, was more of a challenge due to our soil that includes rocks and caliche and required heavy manual labor for the post holes. The quality of the fencing is comparable to the fencing we had professionally installed for $6,000 at our former home. The Pembroke panels have a great appearance and the semi-gloss finish is consistent and flawless. The matching support columns are made of a heavy gauge matching vinyl and are very strong. It was momentarily stressful when there were NO instructions included with the product, but they were easily downloaded from the Home Depot website. We look forward to enjoying the no maintenance and privacy this fencing will provide for many years.

I obtained the Pembroke Weatherables privacy fence panel kit on a try-out basis. The kit included 16 slats, a bottom and top rail and an aluminum insert to make a 6 feet high by 8 feet wide privacy fence. I also obtained two hollow end posts (not included in the kit) and two end caps. The posts are 108 inches tall by 5 inches in diameter. All materials are made of heavy duty commercial-grade vinyl that never needs staining or painting. The panel kit, minus the posts, weighs less than 60 lbs. Installation: For the DIY-er without experience installing fences, this project of building and installing one privacy panel wasn't too hard, but you do need to take out at least one full day, and you'll need to obtain additional materials and have certain tools available. The panel kit doesn't come with any instructions, however, they can be found on Home Depot's website for this product. Be mindful that these instructions include installation tips for different kinds of Pembroke Weatherables fences, so be sure to follow the correct instructions. For one privacy panel and two posts, you'll need to dig two holes of up to 36 inches in depth and 12 inches in diameter. This may or may not be challenging, depending on the ground you have to work with. You can dig the old-fashioned way with various types of shovels, or you can use an auger specially made for drilling post holes. The latter you can rent from the Home Depot. We dug holes the old-fashioned way, which is more time-consuming and labor-intensive. The posts are hollow and you do not need wood insert posts. In order to install the posts, you'll also need to obtain at least four 80-lb bags of QuickCrete fast-drying concrete mix. At my local Home Depot, one bag of QuickCrete cost $4.62. We also obtained heavy-duty cardboard tubes (about $13 for one) as well as several bags of all-purpose gravel ($4.88 per bag). The cardboard tubes, we were advised, are put in the post holes and the fence posts are put in the cardboard tubes. The cement mix is then poured inside the tubes rather than in the post hole itself. The area outside the cardboard tube is filled with gravel. This makes for a more secure post. To make the cement mix, we used a heavy-duty electric paddle mixer for mixing paints, which we happened to own. You may be able to use a ready-made cement which can be purchased at the Home Depot, and which would eliminate having to mix your own dry cement with water. However, there's nothing in the instructions for the panel kit to allude to that. The instructions advise in what order to proceed with regard to putting the slats for the privacy panel into the rails, inserting this into the post openings (the bottom and top rail insert into the posts and are held in place with special clips inside) and securing the second post into the post hole. It took us a full weekend between digging the holes by hand, making the cement mix, building and securing the panel and posts, plus filling up the holes with gravel, followed by general clean-up. In my case, my privacy panel is built and affords a small measure of privacy between my yard and the neighbor's yard. I was sent and used two end posts, which will not allow any future panels to be added on either side. However, if you want to make a larger privacy fence, be sure to obtain the correct posts for this. It remains to be seen how well this privacy fence holds up over time and in bad weather. Being that the posts have to be secured in cement, I don't think it's going to fall over anytime soon.

We used this to block our neighbors headlights from shining into our front door every time they leave their house. Works perfectly! Looks Great! I am so glad they perfected these type of fence because there is no maintenance at all with it. Once it is up the most you will ever have to do is wash it down once a year or so. No painting, scraping, etc.
