Vinyl Cleaning Instructions

Vinyl fencing is well known for its durability and longevity, but one of the best things about vinyl fencing is that it is very low maintenance. Unlike wood, which must be stained or treated regularly and will need to be replaced often, Weatherables vinyl fencing will last a lifetime with very little upkeep.

Vinyl fencing is typically kept fairly clean just from seasonal rainfall, but it may need a more thorough cleaning from time to time. If your fence does not get direct sunlight, for example, green mildew may grow over time. The great thing about vinyl is, it's simple to clean and stays looking brand new year after year. Cleaning your vinyl fence can be done using one of two methods depending on how set in the dirt or mildew. For the best results, it is best to choose an overcast and cool day (55°-75°) to clean your vinyl fence.

Light Dirt/Mildew

What You'll Need:
Bucket with hot water
Dish soap
Rag
Step 1. Start by filling a bucket with hot water and dish soap.
Step 2. Next, wipe the panel with a rag, starting from the bottom of the panel.
Step 3. If more scrubbing is required, use soft materials to preserve the finish.
Step 4. Rinse off any remaining soap with a garden hose and you're done!

Heavy Dirt/Mildew

What You'll Need:
High pressure washer
Spray bottle
1/3 cup powdered detergent (such as Tide, All, or Gain)
2/3 cup of a non-bleach cleaner (such as Lysol or Simple Green)
1 gallon of water
Rag or soft sponge
Step 1. Spray the solution onto the fence and allow it to soak for 5-10 minutes. We recommend spraying only one panel at a time, because you don’t want the solution to dry on the fence.
Step 2. Use a high-pressure washer to rinse the first panel until it is free of the dirt or mildew.
Step 3. Repeat Step 1 and Step 2 on the next panel and use a rag or soft sponge if you see anything remaining.
Step 4. Enjoy your newly cleaned fence!
