FAQs

What is included with a pool fence panel kit?

Weatherables® pool fence panel kits include the rails, pickets, and assembly components needed to build one fence panel. Posts, post caps, and Fast2K concrete alternative are sold separately unless the product page says otherwise.

Are fence posts included?

Pool fence panels and gate kits do not include posts. Order the appropriate line, corner, end, or gate posts separately based on your fence layout and the number of panels and gates in your project.

How do I know which posts I need?

The required posts depend on your fence layout. Line posts are used between panels, end posts are used at the beginning and end of a run, corner posts are used where the fence changes direction, and gate posts are used for gate installations. Learn about fence layout and post installation.

How far apart are the pickets and rails spaced?

Picket and railing spacing varies by fence style. Check the product specifications for exact rail and picket measurements, then confirm that the selected style meets your local pool barrier requirements before purchasing the fence.

Can I install a pool fence myself?

Yes. Weatherables® pool fence systems are designed for DIY installation. Start with the general installation resources, then follow the instructions for your exact fence style and height.

Are installation instructions available?

Yes. Instructions are available on individual product pages and in the Installation & Care center, where pool fence guides are organized by style and height.

What hardware is needed to mount a fence panel to a wood deck?

Deck mounting typically requires a compatible surface-mounted post system rather than an in-ground post. Confirm the post size, panel weight, mount requirements, and structural capacity of the deck before installation.

Can I install a pool fence using existing wood posts?

Weatherables® rails are designed to lock into routed vinyl posts. To use existing wood posts, you will need to trim the rails and attach them with compatible mounting hardware, such as a U-mount bracket, purchased separately.

Can pool fence panels be cut to fit my width?

Yes. Vinyl pool fence panels can be cut to accommodate shorter fence runs. Measure carefully and follow the style-specific installation guide before trimming rails or changing the panel configuration.

What on-center post spacing is required for installation?

Required on-center spacing depends on the panel width and post style. Use the measurements in the product-specific instructions rather than a general estimate so the rails fit securely into the routed posts.

Can pool fence panels be used on an elevated surface, like a second-story deck?

No. Pool fence panels are not designed to serve as guardrails on elevated surfaces. Choose a code-rated vinyl or aluminum railing system for a second-story deck or similar application.

What is included with a gate kit?

Gate kits include the gate panel and hardware, including self-closing hinges and a latch designed to meet national BOCA code requirements. Posts are sold separately and may require end posts or a blank post depending on the gate location. Install the latch at least 54 inches above the ground.

Are gate posts included?

No. Gate posts for aluminum and gate post inserts for vinyl are purchased separately. Select the correct posts or inserts based on your fence style, gate size, and application.

Can a gate be converted into a sliding gate?

No. Standard Weatherables® gates are designed for fixed hinge installation and may not be rated for the added stress of sliding hardware. Converting a gate for sliding use is not recommended.

Can a pool fence gate width be modified?

Yes. Gate width can be reduced on site by cutting the rails before assembly. Follow the product instructions and maintain the required clearances for the posts, hinges, latch, and other gate hardware. You can also review our guide to gate hardware before making any modifications.

Does this fence meet pool code requirements?

Weatherables® pool fences are designed to meet national BOCA code, but approval depends on local requirements. Confirm the required height, spacing, gate swing, latch placement, and setbacks with your local building department before ordering.

What is the spacing between pickets for code compliance?

All Weatherables® pool fence styles have less than 4 inches between pickets, but the exact spacing varies by design. Review the product specifications and local building codes to make sure the selected style is approved for your application.

Can vinyl pool fencing be painted?

No. Painting vinyl fencing is not recommended and will void the warranty. Choose a factory-made color instead, and read more about painting vinyl fencing and selecting a fence color.

What colors are available for vinyl pool fencing?

Available colors vary by pool fence style. Many options are offered in white, tan, and khaki; homeowners looking for a black finish can also explore aluminum pool fencing.

How do you repair scratches in vinyl fencing?

Start with soap, water, and a soft cloth because many light marks are surface transfer rather than permanent damage. Deeper scratches or gouges may require replacement of the affected rail, picket, or panel section; see the vinyl fence repair guide for more help.

Can vinyl fencing withstand high heat without warping?

Weatherables® vinyl contains UV inhibitors that help minimize warping and maintain its appearance over time. Excessive warping may be covered, so review the vinyl warranty and contact support if you notice a problem.

Where is Weatherables® vinyl fencing manufactured?

Weatherables® vinyl fencing is manufactured in Ohio, giving the company direct control over material standards and quality. Learn more about the company’s manufacturing, service, and product history on the About Us page
